Xiaomi sub-brand company Redmi has officially launched the Redmi 9 phone in India, which is a slightly tweaked version of the Redmi 9C and comes as the successor to the Redmi 8 phone in India, which was launched last year.

  • Redmi 9 phone has been launched in India, which comes in two different storage options and three color variants. The Indian variant comes with slightly different specifications and a slightly lower price range compared to the global variants.
  • Highlights of this device include a 6.53-inch HD + water-drop display, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a dual rear camera setup, a MediaTek Helio G35 processor, and a 5000mAh battery with 10W fast charging support.   • The starting price of Redmi 9 starts at Rs 8,999 in India, which is slightly lower in the price range compared to its global variant. The official sale of this device has started today on August 31 via Amazon and Mi.com websites. The device will later be made available for purchase through Mi Home stores and offline stores in the coming days.


Redmi 9 Launched in India

Redmi:- Smartphone production company Xiaomi has finally launched its latest budget smartphone Redmi 9 in India through an online event on 27 August. The company has introduced this phone under its Redmi 9 series, which enhances the company's 9 series line up. However, the company had earlier launched the Redmi 9 Prime device of the Redmi 9 series in India, now the company has come up with a more favorable budget smartphone Redmi 9 for its Indian users. Redmi 9 has been launched as the successor to the Redmi 8 phone, which was launched in India last year. Apart from this, this phone is a rebranded variant of the Redmi 9C that launched in Malaysia in late June. Let us know that Redmi 9 was first debuted in Spain in the month of June. The global variants of Redmi 9 have different specifications compared to the Indian variants, which were sold in Spain at a price of EUR 149 (about 13,000), which is more than the price of the Indian variants.

 However, the company had listed this device on the Amazon website just a few days before its launch. The main highlight of this device includes a water-drop notch display and AI dual rear cameras. Further,  it is equipped with a Mediatek chipset and a 5000mAh battery with fast charging support. Redmi 9 comes in three color variants and two storage options and it will go on sale in India from August 31 to 12 noon through the Amazon and Mi.com websites. Specifications of Redmi 9:-

Redmi 9 Indian variant has a 6.53-inch HD + display with 720x1600 pixels resolution. Apart from this, the device also comes with an IPS LCD display front panel, which has a 20: 9 aspect ratio, 269 PPI density, and 81.08 percent screen-to-body ratio. This device also has a water-drop notch display on the front panel, on which a selfie camera is placed.

 In terms of performance, this device is powered by an octa-core 2.3 GHz processor and is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G35 chipset. While PowerVR GE8320 GPU has been given for graphics, which increases the performance of this device. In terms of software, the dual-SIM support Redmi 9 phone runs on the latest version Android 10 OS based MIUI 12 custom ROM and is paired with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage option. However, the company has made the Redmi 9 device available in India in two storage variants, which are 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage options. On the other hand, to save significant bulk data in the device, the company has given storage expansion support in both variants up to 512 GB of storage via a dedicated micro SD card slot.

Camera Features of Redmi 9:-

For photography, the Redmi 9 phone comes with a dual rear camera setup on the back panel, including a 13-megapixel primary camera with f / 2.2 lens and a 2-megapixel depth camera with f / 2.4 lens. Whereas, a 5-megapixel camera has been provided on the front panel for selfie and video calling, which is located on the water-drop notch display. 

In addition, the rear camera setup comes with inbuilt camera features like AI scene detection, portrait mode, pro mode, HDR mode, LED flash, etc., while the selfie camera comes with the screen flash feature. The rear and selfie cameras of this device can also record 1920x1080 pixel video at 30 fps. Apart from this, the device also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.

Battery & Other Features:-

For long battery backup, this device is equipped with a large 5ooomAh power of the battery, which supports the 10W fast charger that comes with the phone in the box. However, the company has claimed that this battery can last at least 24 hours once fully charged. Apart from this, the company has also provided flash proof and P2I coating protection in this device.

 In terms of connectivity features, it includes 4G, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, GPS / A-GPS, Micro USB 2.0, and 3.5mm headphone jack. While the sensor features include a light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, and compass. Finally, this device measures 164.9 x 77 x 9 mm in dimensions and 196 grams in weight.

Price & Availability of Redmi 9:-

Redmi 9 comes in two storage variants in India, which includes 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and the price of this variant in India is Rs 8,999. While the second variant comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage option, which is priced at Rs 9,999 in India. The company has also provided Aura Edge Design on this phone. Further, this device comes in three color options like Sky Blue, Carbon Black, and Sporty Orange. The first official sale of this device in India has started from today August 31 and is now available for purchase through Amazon India and Mi.com website. This phone will also be made available for purchase through Mi Home stores and other hosted offline stores in the coming days soon.
